Hunsucker's Place | Music Lover's Cottage

Whole Home Rental Near Downtown Greensboro NC | Superhost | Sleeps 6

Where the Piano Is Always Ready and the Coffee Is Ready to Grind

Pull into the driveway at 905 W. Wendover Avenue and you will immediately understand that this is not a corporate rental. There is a tree swing out front. Inside, an antique upright piano sits in the dining room, ready for whoever wants to play. That is Hunsucker's Place. A 1942 musician's cottage, completely revitalized, that still feels like someone's home, because it is.

This is a whole home rental. Three bedrooms, one full bath with a tub and shower, a full kitchen with granite countertops, a bean grinder, whole bean coffee, and olive oil already waiting on the counter, a dining room where the piano lives, a living room with a decorative fireplace and TV, and a walk-up attic loft with exposed brick, sloped ceilings, and its own cozy sleeping and sitting area. It accommodates up to six guests and is available exclusively on Airbnb at airbnb.com/h/hunsuckers.

We are Joy and Eric. We live two doors down. We host people the way we would want to be hosted: with real linens, a stocked kitchen, a fast WiFi connection for when you need to work, and actual responsiveness when something comes up. Joy is an Airbnb Superhost and a licensed NC Realtor who has spent years making these properties feel like somewhere you want to come back to, not just crash.

Hunsucker's Place sits in the Idlewood neighborhood corridor, within walking distance of Downtown Greensboro via the Downtown Greenway, a four-mile paved urban trail with public art and real neighborhood texture. Moses Cone Memorial Hospital is under five minutes by car. The Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts, LeBauer Park, the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, and the Greensboro Coliseum are all within a few miles. The Greensboro Amtrak Station is about three miles away. UNCG and NC A&T are both under ten minutes. And the GTA public transit bus stop is a ten-minute walk on Wendover.

Whether you are in town for a concert, a family visit, a travel nurse rotation at Cone Health, a weekend alumni trip to A&T or UNCG, or just a few days where you need a real home base and not a hotel room, Hunsucker's Place is that place. Come sit in the dining room with a cup of coffee you ground yourself. Play the piano if you want. Nobody is going to stop you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can guests actually play the piano?

Yes. The upright piano in the dining room is there for you. Play it softly at midnight or loudly at noon. It is part of why this house feels the way it does.

What is the attic loft like?

The walk-up attic is one of the most loved spaces in the house. It has sloped ceilings, an exposed brick chimney column, hardwood floors, its own TV, a sitting area, and a separate sleeping nook. It is the kind of space that feels like it was designed for a songwriter or a late-night reader. It is accessed by a staircase from the main floor hallway.

Is Hunsucker's Place good for remote work?

Very much so. There is a private dedicated workspace with a desk, and the WiFi runs at 468 Mbps. Self check-in via keypad means you can arrive on your schedule and get settled without coordination. Guests on extended work trips, travel nurse rotations, and contract assignments book here regularly.

How close is Hunsucker's Place to Moses Cone Hospital and Cone Health?

Under five minutes by car. This makes it one of the most practical options in Greensboro for travel nurses, medical families, and anyone doing an extended stay near Cone Health. The full kitchen and in-unit laundry make longer stays genuinely livable.

Is Hunsucker's Place pet friendly?

Yes. Pets are allowed. The backyard is not fenced, so plan to leash up outside. We have hosted plenty of dogs here and the guests who bring them are always among our favorites.

What is the neighborhood like?

Hunsucker's Place sits in the Idlewood neighborhood, surrounded by Westerwood, Fisher Park, Latham Park, and Old Irving Park. These are historic in-town Greensboro neighborhoods with tree-lined streets and real community character. Wendover Avenue is a busy road, which is worth knowing, but the bedrooms face the back of the house and guests consistently report that the inside is quiet. The Downtown Greenway trail is accessible nearby for walking and non-motorized travel into downtown.

Can I book Hunsucker's Place for a group or family reunion?

Yes, it sleeps up to 6. If you need more space, we also offer Whole Hunsucker's, which combines Hunsucker's Place with the Urban Birdhouse Tiny Home ADU next door for up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. Great for families or small groups who want everyone together but with a little breathing room.

Who hosts Hunsucker's Place?

Joy Watson and Eric, local Greensboro residents who live on the same street. Joy is a licensed NC Realtor (License #307423), an Airbnb Superhost, and a former Special Education teacher who brings the same attention to detail to hosting that she brought to her classroom. We are real people, not a management company. You will hear from us directly.
